In Joshua 1:1-9 the Lord tells Joshua of his plan for him to lead the Israelites into the Promise Land. I cannot imagine how terrified Joshua must have been when he was put in the shoes of Moses to continue in his task. The Lord promised Joshua that he would be with him just as he was with Moses. The Lord continued to give Joshua reassurance, telling him to be courageous and strong. Obeying all the law, not to turn from it, meditate on it, do not be terrified or discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you may go.
As I face many uncertainties and huge obstacles to come this year, the challenges I am already facing. Marrital problems that have been escalating, the demands of a job and mother, forgiveness, and the anger I am repressing. I think there is no way I am going to get out of the place I am in. But I have to remember God promises to always be with us.
Joshua 1:9 Be strong and courageous, do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
What powerful words and yet so often forgotten. Always depending on ourselves will only lead to failures which is why we must meditate daily on his Word for the reassurance we need, in order to be prosperous. This is hard to imagine in the midst of the struggles this world brings. We must continuously be reminded and always remember, nothing is to powerful for the Lord, but our own fear and worry reveal the doubts we have.
John 16:33 I have told you these things, so in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble, but Take Heart! I have OVERCOME the World.
If you are in need of prayer, the prayer request over with Ginger and Charlotte is a great place to go and get some encouragement while these ladies pray for you.
Hi Heather, Please know that I am praying for you......that God will give you His peace that passes all understanding; His love that covers all things and His joy that is unspeakable. I look forward to reading future posts in which you will share your triumphs over the trials that you are facing now. God is taking you through these trials because He knows that He can trust you with trouble. Be encouraged my sister. You are loved!!
ReplyDeleteHeather, I'm saying a prayer for you right now. God bless you, Sister.
ReplyDeleteThis too shall pass.
ReplyDeleteHey Heather...what you wrote...it's so true. I didn't know when I was going through my stuff that it was but I found out...He really does run with us....Stay strong okay....He'll never fail you...never let you down.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good reminder. I gave Joshua 1:9 to my Marine when he went out on his first deployment as I knew he would come face to face with a reality and daily walk that would require those words. I hoped he would be able to remember them. We all walk through many hard times in this life journey. I don't think Jesus ever intended for us to have the nice smooth comfy path with nothing but sunshine and blue skies and happiness. How would we ever pull in close and tight, and reach out for His hand if we had such a trip here? No...Picking up a cross and walking daily with it, whatever season and circumstances that cross might represent...that is the calling of a Christian...and it is HARD!!! I am with you, Christian sister. Saying a prayer for you today about your journey right now. With Christ, you are already a victor...He is with you and for you. WE just still have to make the journey.. God is good.
ReplyDeleteThank you for a great comment and truth!. :-)
You are in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right. Difficulties in this life can be soooo challenging. We need to hang onto the promises of God. I am praying for you, Heather. I pray that your faith will remain strong.

Charlotte

Love your thoughts on Joshua! I love starting a new year and meeting supernatural strength to overcome obstacles and live as a conqueror. Funny as it may be, it has been the Leviathan out of Job that has been my inspiration for overcoming this year. If you want, you can check out my post about it...http://www.creatinghomejournal.com/2011/01/13/leviathan/

I don't know why it never occurred to me that the reason God kept telling Joshua to be courageous was because he wasn't. Oddly, that's an encouragement to me.
